He became leader of the European economics team in 2005 before transferring to Dubai to build up Bloomberg’s Middle East and Africa coverage. In 2020, he was put in charge of restructuring Bloomberg News’ global internship program, expanding its reach and bringing a greater focus on diversity and inclusion. Before joining Bloomberg, Hamade was an editor for Bridge News in Frankfurt and the BBC’s Monitoring Service in the U.K.

Born in Reutlingen, Germany, Hamade grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, where he graduated with a B.A. in Economics from the American University of Beirut in 1986. In 1989, he earned an MSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics.
